About the Event
Our aim is to provide workshops that are as much about a social afternoon with friends as they are about learning a new skill.
This introduction to bread making is run by Claire who used to run her own classes teaching all sorts of different bread making techniques.
On this course we will make a batch of basic, white bread dough and then use this to make fabulous, French, fougasse, a lovely, crispy bread that is perfect for tear and share meals and dipping in your favrouite spreads. While this is cooking we will use the rest of the dough to make crumpets, flat bread or muffins, depending on what you prefer, what type of frying pan you have brought with you and how much time we have.
Please note, bread making is messy and generates a fair amount of washing up. Participants will be asked to help with washing up, cleaning tables and generally helping out.
The cost of the workshop includes your ingredients, recipe sheets and tasty refreshments. Please can you bring along your own mixing bowls (2), wooden spoons, baking sheet and frying pan. A full list will be sent out nearer the time.
As with all our activities we aim to make a small surplus to cover emergencies but otherwise price our events to be as affordable and inclusive as possible. We are able to do this due to the fantastic goodwill of our members, the women of Merstham, who give their time and skills for free or at cost.
